Brighten Someone’s Day with Flowers (and the Gospel) this Easter

Easter is coming up quickly! (April 17th, to be exact.) While many cute Easter decorations and desserts make this holiday festive, we want to celebrate Christ's death and resurrection intentionally. The life-giving beauty of flowers reminds us that Christ rose from the grave and gives life to those who repent and believe in Him.

Let's spread the joy of Easter Sunday through some pretty flower blooms! As a result, we pray making a sweet bouquet will open the door to share the Gospel and invite someone to your church's services this Easter. Here's a step-by-step guide offering suggestions to do just that!

ASK THE LORD WHO YOU CAN INVITE TO EASTER SUNDAY SERVICES.

As much fun as arranging flowers can be, this act is a bridge to invite someone to hear the good news of the gospel. Spend some time in prayer asking the Lord to reveal who needs some encouragement and an invitation to Easter Sunday! Once you narrow down this list, pray for this person/people as you continue the following steps!

GATHER SOME FLOWERS.

Does your mom or grandma have a beautiful garden full of blooming flowers? Ask if you can cut a few stems! Or stop by your local grocery store to get an entire bouquet if you want to give multiple people a sweet little arrangement. Whether you add one stem or a dozen, we know any flower will brighten someone's day!

Next up, let's find the right home for these beauties!

FIND A VASE

If you don't have a bud vase that you can give away, there are plenty of free or cheap options to find a cute alternative. For instance, you could use:

  • an old glass bottle of your favorite drink, such as a Topo Chico, Izze, Coke, or root beer bottle.

  • an old mason jar no one uses around the house

  • a tin can of your favorite soup, minus the soup and wrapping

Another cheap place to look for vase options is the Dollar Store or a resale shop!

ASSEMBLE THE BEAUTY

Once you find the right flowers, it's time to put them together. First, fill your vase about halfway full. Then, take each flower and diagonally cut the stem so it can sip on as much water as possible. Pretty easy, huh?!

DELIVER THE FLOWERS

Now, to the best part: gifting it! As you head over to someone's house or work, meditate on the following verses:

Acts 4:12

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Romans 10:13-17

“For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:3-5

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.”

Then, tell them why you dropped by: to brighten their day with some flowers and invite them to Easter with you! No pressure if they can't go, don't want to go, but you wanted to make sure that if they wanted to go, you could pop over and pick them up before Easter services.

Friend, they might come, hear the gospel, and place trusting faith in Christ Jesus. They might not respond favorably! But, know that you were intentional this Easter by inviting someone to sit under gospel-centered teaching of the greatest news ever: Christ's death and resurrection that affords believers everlasting life!
